“It is not in the stars to hold our destiny, but in ourselves.”
William Shakespeare
“Accept the place divine providence has found for you.”
Ralph Waldo Emerson
Destiny. Fate. Are they pre-determined? Do we determine? Is it both?
We certainly have choices in life. We can always control how hard we
work to improve ourselves for the better. We may have been born in
a certain place, with certain parents, in a particular body. Placed on
a certain path, but then the rest is up to us. In ourselves, through our
actions and choices. Learn, read, work out, be kind, help others, make
the best out of the situation right before you. Strive to be better each
day. Our judgment of things. Our point of view. They are all a matter
of how we choose to “see” things. Which path or paths do we choose.
How we go about doing the work is up to us. Yes, we are dealt a certain
hand, are given certain opportunities or obstacles. How we choose to
pursue and overcome them is up to us. Meanwhile, we must always
recognize and keep in mind that there is a higher power guiding us.
Everyone holds their fortune in their own hands. Everything that
happens to us is an opportunity to gain experience and grow. We
certainly have choices in life over what we can control and what we
cannot control. Kobe Bryant may have been born into a certain body
type, with a certain mindset, but, make no mistake, he was not gifted
into being one of the greatest NBA players of all time, he was one of
the hardest working players ever. Just like any other master of their
craft. My formula for greatness in a human being is amor fati; that one
wants nothing to be other than it is, not in the future, not in the past,
not in all eternity. This means be at one with your fate and give your
actions the weight of all eternity. Think of it as doing things, so if you
had to hit repeat and do it repeatedly you would do it the same way,
again and again. Everything happens for a reason, a purpose, it is up
to us to make the most of it. Positive. Grow. Build. Make the world a
better place for us being here. Trust you are on the right path. Identify
your path and stay on the course, adjust as you need to. Trust your
moral compass, values and virtues and know generally you are on
the right trajectory.
We may not always be able to control what happens to us,
but we can always control how we choose to respond.”
Victor Frankel-Man’s Search for Meaning
“Not merely to endure that which happens
of necessity…. but to love it.”
Friedrich Nietzsche
