“The best way to predict the future is to create it.”
Abraham Lincoln
“We have a lot of troubles in our lives, most of which never happened.”
Mark Twain
We can worry ourselves into a frenzy thinking about the future. Most of
these “worries” will never happen except in our imagination. It is good
to prepare and plan, but not at the expense of missing the present
and what is right in front of us because we are too busy or distracted
fretting over what may or may not happen in the future. By preparing,
planning, and setting in motion what steps we can control, especially
controlling our own mind and thoughts, we minimize the uncertainty of
the future. We create a great deal of what happens to us. We cannot
just sit back and wait for good fortune to fall on our plate. We need to make our own fortune.
Shape our own destiny. Control what we can. Let go of what we cannot control.
Hope for the best, plan for the worst. Identify what we need to do and get to work.
