UPHILL

“Most of the important things in the world have been

accomplished by people who have kept on trying

when there seemed to be no hope at all.”

                                        Dale Carnegie

I have heard it said that everything worthwhile is an uphill battle or a

struggle. This may be true to the extent that it inspires hard work and

advancing our skills leads to success and the satisfaction of a job

well done. Equally true are all the worthwhile things that come with

nature when you stop to soak in the beauty of the morning sunrise,

sunset, the stars, the moon, the rivers, lakes, and woods. I suppose

with nature, the universe, and preserving it has always taken work

and nowadays certainly is an uphill battle to preserve nature and what

comes naturally. Once you put in the work to get up that hill sometimes

you need to go back down. Do it all over again and again. Hill

repeats. Never rest on your laurels. Never fall victim to complacency.

Stagnant. Others in the world will pass you by. Just because it worked

before does not mean it will next time. Sometimes, even if it is just for

a little while you need to stop and stand on top of that hill and enjoy

the scenery. Savor it. Then look for the next hill to climb.

THE RULE OF LAW

The rule of law is the bedrock principle upon which our government and democracy is built. We the people, judges, juries, Congress and the President must all abide by the rule of law or risk freedom and justice being taken away from us. Justice and the rule of law have been under attack and are in grave danger. This precarious situation has caused many of those charged with protecting the integrity of our judicial system to affirm their support of the rule of law in America. To that end, more than 500 law school deans and professors, law firm partners, and former judges have signed a letter calling on all government officials — including President Trump — to obey judicial decisions.
Here’s an excerpt from that letter:
Presidents from the early days of our Republic have pushed the boundaries of their authority. But virtually without exception, presidents have abided by court orders, even ones with which they strongly disagree.
There are disturbing signs that the administration of President Trump will defy court orders. On several occasions, the administration has proclaimed that the President is not required to comply with court decisions. Even worse, on other occasions, members of the Trump administration have openly defied judicial orders. …
We call on the President and all in the executive branch to abide by court orders. We urge Congress to play its role under the Constitution in checking abuses of presidential power. And we ask that the courts play their fundamental role in enforcing the Constitution of the United States.

We must all support and stand behind the rule of law in the United States. It is our duty as citizens of the United States of America.

Will you uphold the rule of law?
You decide.
