ROUTINE

“You’ll never change your life until you change something you do daily. The secret of your success is found in your daily routine.”                     J o h n C . M a x w e l l

As with most things in life, routine can be both good and bad.

Good to the extent it keeps you on task. In a flow. Getting it

done. Waking up early, stretching, exercising, eating well, walking,

working, fishing, playing pickleball or whatever your fun is, reading,

going to bed early, then doing it again the next day. “Routine” can

be bad to the extent you get mired in a rut. A 9-5 job day in day

out frittering your time away in a stultifying, mundane drudgery.

Every now and then mix it up. Work out with a friend. Try a different

exercise. Take a day off. Go do something for yourself. Rotate the

crops. Bike instead of running. Do a group exercise class. Walk with

a friend. Go to lunch on your own. Go for coffee with an old friend.

Add a wrinkle to your day. Get away every now and then. Vacation.

Blow-out of your routine. (but still get your exercise and reading

in). This helps you recalibrate keeping things in perspective. When

you are away from your routine, you crave getting it back. Absence

makes the heart grow fonder. When you are stuck in your routine,

you can’t wait to get away from it. Stir the pot. Mix it up every now

and then. Routine helps you gain small daily victories consistently

over time leading to massive, extraordinary results in the long run.

When you develop an excellent routine, you will become fit as f*ck.

Being fit as f*uck vastly increases your productivity, point of view,

and “happiness” exponentially.
