NHTSA looks into
complaints about faulty collision avoidance system.
The Wall Street Journal (6/16, Ramsey,
Subscription Publication, 5.68M) reports that after a Honda recall targeting
two Acura models last month, US safety investigators are turning their
attention to the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee, which some drivers have complained
deploys the automatic brakes for no reason. The NHTSA also received complaints
from Honda, Fiat Chrysler, and GM vehicles for the same reason. Infiniti, which
had dealth with a similar problem, found it was tied to one New Jersey bridge
specifically, while Volvo said it recorded fewer accidents in vehicles equipped
with collision avoidance system.
