Volkswagen
offered Thursday to fix or buy back 2-liter vehicles equipped with the
infamous defeat device software meant to fool emissions tests as part of a
settlement to resolve the Department Of Justice's claims that the German
automaker had installed such software in more than half a million diesel
engine vehicles.
