FCA recalls vehicles due
to NHTSA investigation of monostable gear shifter.
AutoWeek (4/27, Ramey, 2.12M) reports that the
NHTSA’s investigation of the Monostable gear shifter has led Fiat Chrysler
Automobiles (FCA) to issue 1.1 million vehicles recall “to modify the operation
of the shifter that has now caused 121 accidents and 41 injuries.” The article
wrote that the NHTSA said earlier this year that “the Monostable shifter is not
intuitive and provides poor tactile and visual feedback to the driver,
increasing the potential for unintended gear selection.”
